What is your overall opinion of this article? How do you feel about being a guinea pig for this initiative? What responsibilities does the senior class have to success of mobile devices in education? Is this a good thing?

Overall the article is relevant to explain what is going on with E.O. and the tablets. What i do not like is the whole URBAN setting situation. I don't feel as though that had to be mentioned.

A smartphone is different from a cell phone because while a cellphone a device which can make and receive telephone calls over a radio link whilst moving around a wide geographic area, a smartphone also adds features that you might find on a personal digital assistant or a computer.

I would like to learn how to use my tablet as a daily planner in order to help me keep everything organized and let me due everything on time. This will help me keep up my grades.

It is important to learn how to learn today because in the world that we live in technology is advancing quickly and you must be information literate. New things are arriving due to all the new technologies like jobs . In order to obtain one or keep the job you must catch on to these technologies.

Yes, I have a cellphone and I agree that It very well can distract you from your work. Cell phones nowadays aren't just devices that make and receive telephone calls over a radio link whilst moving around a wide geographic area, But a tool, game, fun , camera, music player, and play thing. There are many things available in a cellphone that can distract you in school .

How will you use the Samsung Galaxy Tab™ Will it be used to improve your education? Will tablets enhance learning or be more of a distraction?

My samsung galaxy tab is more of a convenience than a distraction. It will be used to check my grades and do research when I am at bedside and not available to my desktop. Since I have to complete a good number of term papers for school, I will probably be using it as a place to save my work on the go. The Best part is if the work is incomplete, I can use the tablet to finish it.
         So far the tablet has done nothing but enhance my learning, maybe since I am already introduced to this type of technology both at home and on the go (mobile) because I have a samsung galaxy cellphone. For the kids that aren't the tab maybe excitement to them , a distraction.

Tell us how you feel about the use of Mobile Devices like Cellphones and Tablets as educational tools — whether in or out of the classroom. How could your teachers use them during lessons?

I feel pretty good about the use of mobile devices like cellphones and tablets as educational tools. Providing that the proper device is being used, this can be very convenient. Teachers may assign research and other things like blogging in school themselves may use a device to keep on Teachers the ame page as students.

Question of the Day: 10/17 Make-Up Monday: Give an example of a time when you did something you thought was really good only to find out it was not what your teacher wanted? How could this have been avoided?

Sometime in English class junior year, We had an essay due. Now essay's are my specialty since I love to write. I had completed what I thought was my BEST essay ever, handed it it so confidently, I knew I would get a 5. I read some of my friends essays just to see what I was up against. I saw no competition, still feeling like mine was the best. After getting my essay back graded by my teacher , she gave me a 3 out of 5. I was surly disappointed. she made corrections and comments like "too wordy" and "too much" lol now, maybe everything would have been better if I had just stayed focused and even spoke to her about my work prior to turning it in.

What did I do or learn today?

I learned that Twitter is used as more than a social network but also used as a way to bring in revenue , profit, and fans for athletes and more.

Should anonymity (not using real name) be protected in electronic interactions and communications? Would this be a good thing for community, responsibility, free expression, political participation, and personal fulfillment? If so, when and why?

Anonymity should be protected in certain electronic interactions and communications because while the anonymity can be a good way to protect yourself or someone who means no harm, it can protect flames, bad people, and criminals.
Anonymity can help people express themselves freely on blog or site where your opinion matters. As long as the chatting stays friendly , anonymity is not a bad thing at all.

What would your friends (parents and teachers) think of you if you said something mean to someone on the Internet? How would that make you feel?

If you say something mean to someone in person m its mere ignorance. So if done online I'TS NO BETTER. People,Parents,teachers, and friends would probably think that I'm insecure and mean or mean because i'm insecure. Some people might laugh with me but that only tells that they are just as ignorant. If an adult was to approach me on the subject i would feel ashamed of myself. Either way MY friends and family would NOT condone of such behavior.

Tell us what you think about Steve Jobs’s legacy and what your own guiding principles are. What are your core beliefs? What would you say is your personal credo? How does that credo guide you in life?



Steve Jobs helped open doors in the personal computer generation and revolutionize four different industries — PCs, mobile phones, music, and animated movies — and bring Apple back from fiscal oblivion to become the most valuable company on the planet. Starting us off with such a foundation is really dramatic and cool ! Thinking about how Jobs has created a portal for NEW technologies is crazy. Although Jobs was sick, he stayed true to MAC and showed us what his guiding principles were. A man that knew he may not be longer in this earth , worked to create and give up technology that we can place in our pocket's pocket.
Sometimes I don't feel like getting up for school because I'm tired or I stop working because I'm hungry. Now I think ... If a man with cancer can go to work, so can I. Jobs really did change my way of thinking, feeling that I have to stay true to my guiding principles. School, home, education, attitude, ambitions, I must stay on task because my principles are IMPORTANT and they may even change the world. If Steve Job's did, so can mine.
My personal credo includes doing my best in school so I can further my education and maintain a positive attitude in my household. My credo guides me in life by helping me remember that in doing so I will be the best daughter,niece,sister,aunt,friend,and grandchild while pleasing everyone else I can still do whats best for me and have a great life. In order to be any of these I have to believe that things like keeping my head up, losing sleep, skipping lunch, persistence, and failure will ALL help me succeed.

Do you think it is a harmless prank to mess with another persons account? What would you do if you find a computer was left on and accounts were not logged out? What would you want someone to do if you left your computer on and accounts open?

I think it is a harmless prank when there is nothing inappropriate said on the users account. countless times my friends have all left there public blogs and pages open and I've hacked them ALL but never to harm, hurt, or cause trouble. In school we share computers , there have been times where I come to my 3rd period class and find that the previous student that i share a computer with has forgotten to log out or have not done so properly. I do not linger, I log out. one, because I need to resume my own work and two, I definitely wouldn't want anyone going through my work.

Question of the Day: 10/6 Steve Jobs:How did Steve Jobs (Apple) effect the way we learn, communicate and live today? How does this effect your life?

Apple and Mac computers are the main computers used in our school system today. The fast internet of the apples allows us to search and surf the web quickly. Thanks to new and effective apple creations like the Iphone4 & Ipad we can communicate INTERNATIONALLY with a device that can fit right into our pockets or Steve's Levi's lol. The innovation of all Steve's work has greatly affected they way I learn and view things. I use apple products EVERYDAY. And maybe if it wasn't for apple's back to back inventions there would be no competition and not so many other cool devices like android out there =] .

Question of the Day: 10/4 HSPA Graduation?

Do you think that the passing the HSPA should be a requirement for graduation? Do standardized test measure what you really know? Why?

NO, I definitely don't . Students work really hard in school to maintain their gpa and increase their credits in order to graduate. As a student myself I feel like HSPA is a burden ! Standardized test do not measure what you really know , some people aren't great test takers.

Do you think the HSPA test should be given on a computer or over the Internet? Would most students do better or worse? Would the results be the same? Would you prefer to take the test the traditional way or on a computer? Why?

HSPA testing given in any way is the same to me. I don't feel that students will do any better or worse because of the way they are taking the test. Preferably I would like to take the test over the internet because the testing process with #2 pencils and seating charts is annoying.

You walk in to the computer classroom. You sit down at your computer. You notice that the computer was left on. Someones online accounts, photographs and classwork is open. What is the right thing to do? What would you do? Why? Should you go into the other persons accounts?


The right thing to do would be to go ahead and log out of the account OR put it aside if you are going to use the computer. Thinking of moral conduct, what If it was your information ? would you like someone to use it or take advantage of it ? NO, so therefore you should never violate another persons personal information. I would see who's account it is and try to notify them and let them know it was open and tell them to be careful next time using the web. But I would never violate another persons info.

A "boy/girl" friends you through Facebook. He/she is exactly your age, likes the same things as you, likes the same music you do. After a few weeks of chatting, he/she asks you to meet him/her. What do you do?

       If a person I met online happens to like the same things I like , was exactly or around my age, AND lived around the way , Im pretty sure that we would share some mutual friends. After a week of chatting online and the person asks me to meet him or her, depending on wether or not I AM POSITIVE that this is a real person with real interests I would or would not meet them. If I do decide to take the offer I would not give out personal info such as phone number and address. The anonymous person and I will HAVE TO meet in a PUBLIC place with mutual friends like a football game or school event. I will make sure I bring a friend. I say this because kids meet everyday through online sites and in my reality , it's done this way. the safe way using COMMON SENSE.

Good manners and the web (NETtiquette)

I think it's important to have good internet manners because the internet is available to millions of people worldwide. Everything you do, post, say, upload, and type is there for parents, peers, businesses, and colleges to see. If you wouldn't do something in person then why do it on the web ? If you portray yourself as an unmannerly person on the web then people may mistake you to be such a person real life.
