online courses

possibility of taking courses online. What are the trade-offs between this approach to education and an experience complete with classrooms and in-person interactions? What are the benefits and drawbacks? Have you ever taken an online course or used an instructional video like those from Vi Hart or Khan Academy? If so, what did you think? Can you see video and online instruction replacing traditional classes? Do you think it is the wave of the future?

On average, students in online learning conditions performed better than those receiving face-to-face instruction.
When taking online courses instead of applying to a university, you will not only save time but also money. In addition, learning online can be very fun and exciting. It will help you learn all the concept and skills needed to be able to make sound business decisions based on proper financial accounting and learning it at the convenience of your own home.Taking online courses is a lot better than the traditional method of because you have more control of your time. Most people who are employed or working considers flexibility as an important factor.Non-flexibility is one of the reasons why some people don’t like the traditional method since they don’t want to be confined to a certain schedule.
An online accounting course will allow you more time to do stuff you like without having to compromise your time for learning.
Another benefit is that you will definitely save money on gas, food, and clothes every day. You can take your lessons in your pajamas, and no one will protest. Another advantage is you have more chances of learning things better.Since you only have a virtual instructor, much of the work is left to you, and thus you will be required to do additional readings and find other resources to be able to understand things better. Although it may seem like additional work on your part, but in the end, you’ll learn accounting better.
When you decide to enroll in an online accounting course, you don’t have to be intimidated by the amount of work required. There are a lot of helpful resources available. The benefits you get from finishing an accounting course online will definitely outweigh the disadvantages.
Lastly, you will not feel pressured. Taking an online accounting course will give you more time to digest and understand your lessons better. This is why more people find learning accounting online to be more supportive. No longer will they experience the embarrassment of not being able to answer a question posed by the professor, which happens quite often in a traditional school setting.
The technology will be used to create learning communities among students in new ways.

School uniforms are actually convenient. Wearing uniform works for me since its just one set of colors. I don't have to worry about running out of clothes to wear. And then again I have more regular clothes in my closet unwon which is a good thing. Its necessary to wear school uniform because some kids get carried away and don't always comply with the dress code, a set of rules, usually written and posted, specifying the required manner of dress at a school, office, club, restaurant, etc. Students aren't reacting properly to mandatory school uniforms because they do not understand why it is helpful. Question of the Day: 10/7 Internet Meanie

What would your friends (parents and teachers) think of you if you said something mean to someone on the Internet? How would that make you feel?

If you say something mean to someone in person m its mere ignorance. So if done online I'TS NO BETTER. People,Parents, teachers, and friends would probably think that I'm insecure and mean or mean because i'm insecure. Some people might laugh with me but that only tells that they are just as ignorant. If an adult was to approach me on the subject i would feel ashamed of myself. Either way MY friends and family would NOT condone of such behavior.

Question of the Day: 10/10 Presonal Credo

Tell us what you think about Steve Jobs’s legacy and what your own guiding principles are. What are your core beliefs? What would you say is your personal credo? How does that credo guide you in life?

Steve Jobs helped open doors in the personal computer generation and revolutionize four different industries — PCs, mobile phones, music, and animated movies — and bring Apple back from fiscal oblivion to become the most valuable company on the planet. Starting us off with such a foundation is really dramatic and cool ! Thinking about how Jobs has created a portal for NEW technologies is crazy. Although Jobs was sick, he stayed true to MAC and showed us what his guiding principles were. A man that knew he may not be longer in this earth , worked to create and give up technology that we can place in our pocket's pocket.
Sometimes I don't feel like getting up for school because I'm tired or I stop working because I'm hungry. Now I think ... If a man with cancer can go to work, so can I. Jobs really did change my way of thinking, feeling that I have to stay true to my guiding principles. School, home, education, attitude, ambitions, I must stay on task because my principles are IMPORTANT and they may even change the world. If Steve Job's did, so can mine.
My personal credo includes doing my best in school so I can further my education and maintain a positive attitude in my household. My credo guides me in life by helping me remember that in doing so I will be the best daughter, niece, sister, aunt, friend, and grandchild while pleasing everyone else I can still do whats best for me and have a great life. In order to be any of these I have to believe that things like keeping my head up, losing sleep, skipping lunch, persistence, and failure will ALL help me succeed.

Question of the Day: 10/11 Youth Hackers

Do you think it is a harmless prank to mess with another persons account? What would you do if you find a computer was left on and accounts were not logged out? What would you want someone to do if you left your computer on and accounts open?

I think it is a harmless prank when there is nothing inappropriate said on the users account. countless times my friends have all left there public blogs and pages open and I've hacked them ALL but never to harm, hurt, or cause trouble. In school we share computers , there have been times where I come to my 3rd period class and find that the previous student that i share a computer with has forgotten to log out or have not done so properly. I do not linger, I log out. one, because I need to resume my own work and two, I definitely wouldn't want anyone going through my work.

Thursday, October 6

Question of the Day: 10/6 Steve Jobs

Question of the Day: 10/6 Steve Jobs:How did Steve Jobs (Apple) effect the way we learn, communicate and live today? How does this effect your life?

Apple and Mac computers are the main computers used in our school system today. The fast internet of the apples allows us to search and surf the web quickly. Thanks to new and effective apple creations like the Iphone4 & Ipad we can communicate INTERNATIONALLY with a device that can fit right into our pockets or Steve's Levi's lol. The innovation of all Steve's work has greatly affected they way I learn and view things. I use apple products EVERYDAY. And maybe if it wasn't for apple's back to back inventions there would be no competition and not so many other cool devices like android out there =] .
Thank-you Steve Jobs , Rest easy .

Question of the Day: 10/4 HSPA Graduation?

Do you think that the passing the HSPA should be a requirement for graduation? Do standardized test measure what you really know? Why?

NO, I definitely don't . Students work really hard in school to maintain their gpa and increase their credits in order to graduate. As a student myself I feel like HSPA is a burden ! Standardized test do not measure what you really know , some people aren't great test takers.

Do you think the HSPA test should be given on a computer or over the Internet? Would most students do better or worse? Would the results be the same? Would you prefer to take the test the traditional way or on a computer? Why?

HSPA testing given in any way is the same to me. I don't feel that students will do any better or worse because of the way they are taking the test. Preferably I would like to take the test over the internet because the testing process with #2 pencils and seating charts is annoying.

Question of the Day: 9/26 Do The Right Thing

Question of the Day: 9/26 Do The Right Thing:

You walk in to the computer classroom. You sit down at your computer. You notice that the computer was left on. Someones online accounts, photographs and classwork is open. What is the right thing to do? What would you do? Why? Should you go into the other persons accounts?

The right thing to do would be to go ahead and log out of the account OR put it aside if you are going to use the computer. Thinking of moral conduct, what If it was your information ? would you like someone to use it or take advantage of it ? NO, so therefore you should never violate another persons personal information. I would see who's account it is and try to notify them and let them know it was open and tell them to be careful next time using the web. But I would never violate another persons info.
.

Friday, September 23

A "boy/girl" friends you through Facebook. He/she is exactly your age, likes the same things as you, likes the same music you do. After a few weeks of chatting, he/she asks you to meet him/her. What do you do?

If a person I met online happens to like the same things I like , was exactly or around my age, AND lived around the way , Im pretty sure that we would share some mutual friends. After a week of chatting online and the person asks me to meet him or her, depending on wether or not I AM POSITIVE that this is a real person with real interests I would or would not meet them. If I do decide to take the offer I would not give out personal info such as phone number and address. The anonymous person and I will HAVE TO meet in a PUBLIC place with mutual friends like a football game or school event. I will make sure I bring a friend. I say this because kids meet everyday through online sites and in my reality , it's done this way. the safe way using COMMON SENSE.

Thursday, September 22

Good manners and the web (NETtiquette)

I think it's important to have good internet manners because the internet is available to millions of people worldwide. Everything you do, post, say, upload, and type is there for parents, peers, businesses, and colleges to see. If you wouldn't do something in person then why do it on the web ? If you portray yourself as an unmannerly person on the web then people may mistake you to be such a person real life.

Monday, September 19

Question of the Day: 9/16 Cyberbullying

Question of the Day: 9/16 Cyberbullying: Tell us your ideas about preventing bullying — and dealing with it when it does occur. Do you think laws like the one in New Jersey will help reduce instances of bullying? What do you think teachers and schools can do to improve school culture and reduce bullying? What approaches do you think can be effective? Do you see this problem getting better, worse or staying about the same in your school or community?

I really think that the kids in he community just needs a serious reality check ! A mature minded person would never sit there and cyber bully another person. Those that bully people period, either is very insecure within there selves or just straight out immature. Ever one person has different characteristics, style, living ways, and religion. But we are ALL human. there should be mandatory seminars that speak deeply about how something such as cyber bullying affects a person.

Thursday, September 15

Question of the Day: 9/15 Teen Reputation

What would you do if someone created a page on Facebook using your name and information?

If someone was to create a fake profile of me I'm not actually sure i'd know what to do. I would definitely work towards finding out who created it. Although it can always be the person that is the closest to me, I will make sure I check the people that have a despise towards me. I would definitely tell my mom and school adviser/counselor right away because I will not be held accountable for anything vile this person has batched up and made public.
The rules and policies in school and our community are not adequate. More things are actually said than done.

Wednesday, September 14

Question of the Day: 9/14 - Cyberbullying

Question of the Day: 9/14 - Cyberbullying:

Cyber bullying is wrong. There is no actual justification to bullying period. Bullying someone on the internet can have some serious consequences, not to mention the bad impact the bullier left of the victim. Attractive persons telling another person who may look or act different that they are not human, good-looking, or unworthy can leave the victim feeling depressed and feeling like an outcast. There has been some cases of suicide due to cyber bullying and a large number of suicides from just physical bullying alone. So far there are ONLY 6 states that have laws against cyber bullying. whether its physical,verbal,face-to-face,or just cyber..its just as bad.

Question of the Day: 9/13 Information Highway Safety

Question of the Day: 9/13 Information Highway Safety:

While young children are quickly getting familiar with the "information highway" better known as the internet, teenagers have already been introduced to it and by now have got the hang of surfing the net. I think of the Internet as a bittersweet source. while there's a good chance that a young child may stumble upon an indecent website or source of information, there's a better chance that a teenager that is aware of what they're doing on the internet may be putting indecent images or info on the internet. Plagiarism something many many teenagers get in trouble for.
